When tasting it side-by-side with the Old Pulteney 17 it’s a bit off; the 17 is more cohesive and complex. The extra sherry sweetness is nice, but I kinda miss the earthier malt and sea-side essence I get more of from the 17. WebPalate: Caramel, vanilla crème, spices, bit of salt, oak. Toasty. Finish: Toasted oak, honey, vanilla. Slightly bitter. Overall: Solid. Rich malt, nice age, good and spicy with a maritime feel but not smoky. Not really standing out in any way, but quite lovely.
