WebApr 1, 2024 · Put a vise grip on the tube that holds the cable. Get the vise grip as tight as possible, tighten the fit, lock it in, and slowly shake. Release the vise grip from the tube. Run the steering arm all the way to the end. Do this by turning the steering wheel, which will release the cable. Remove the cable. WebOct 30, 2008 · There is a couple different choices in (standard) steering. There is "rack" style which is somewhat like rack and pinion in a car, and rotary steering. In the rack style the helm moves a rack back and forth that pushes/pulls the steering cable.
